Summer Course 2009 | APPLY HERE >> (Proceed to On-Line Application, Deadline: April 15) >>

Participants / 15 - 29 August, 2009: The Open Society -
The Way it Works in Sweden on Local, National and International Level

As a participant in the Visby Programme Summer University you are expected to

• Participate in the course from beginning to end, i.e. 15- 29 August 2009. Contact the person responsible for the course at Svefi as soon as possible if this is not possible. Please note that you will receive your travel grant just before you leave Haparanda. In order for you to receive it, you will have to attend at least 90% of the programme in Haparanda. There is no time or possibility for you to travel on your own during the course so if you wish to do this, you will have to make it before or after the course!
• Take advantage of the course to improve your English, i.e. speak English as often as you can, also with the other participants.
• Participate in the entire course programme and other activities such as outings and study visits.
• Be on time to lectures and study visits.
• Respect Svefi’s rules on smoking and alcohol as well as house rules.
• Inform us if you cannot attend the course as offered, so that others could take your place instead.

There will be students from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus attending the course and therefore we plan for three different national evenings where participants from the respective countries will arrange some national entertainment or tell something about their countries. For this reason, you might want to bring some typical accessories for decorating or some traditional clothing or music. You are not allowed to take with you to the EU any food contaning meat or milk products as you might encounter huge problems at the border. Please don't try to do that for your safety and benefit.
