It's also possible to study art, creative writing (Swedish/Finnish) and/or athletics. We help you setting up a schedule based on your own wishes and your own needs. After finishing this course we hope that you will have a solid foundation to build on, and that you have acquired keys to a better future. Adapted studies The course is intended for mildly intellectually handicapped participants. We offer general proficiencies and skills of computer science as well as other subjects according to participants' needs and wishes. The course has an aesthetic approach. The goal with aesthetic activities is to encourage handicapped participants to express themselves, improve their motor activities and to encourage their imagination. One of the goals is to teach participants through individual guidance to use common PC-programs and in that way enhance their involvement in society. Another purpose is to strengthen participants´ self-confidence and encourage them to take part in different activities to improve their quality of life. The rate of studies is set individually. Each participant gets guidance according to his or her prior skills and capabilities. Introductory studio musician course An introductory studio musician course meant for those who want to work as musicians, both live as well as in a studio. The admission requirements are higher than to the music course, i.e. experience and skills in music. The course lays a foundation for further studies at university. Simultaneously students are given the possibility to develop as musicians. Students acquire good genre awareness and experience to work with recordings and play live. The course is for those who master their instrument and have a genuine musical background. The styles of music which are brought up during the course is what is referred to as POP, i.e. the music that pours out from commecial radio channels (Beethoven, Mozart och Bizet are excused). The course covers the big genres and touches on the less familiar ones. Guest teachers act as producers within their own genre contribute to the course. Students work in close co-operation with the Sound engineering course and furthermore, music students get to know the basics in sound engineering. If a musician understands what's going on behind the glass he or she will not be as easily irritated by problems that turn up. Art course A course in mainly visual art and design. The classes, mostly practical but also theoretical, are supervised by professional artists and designers. Students also participate in various productions together with the school’s Performance, Music and Sound engineer courses. Every year a public exhibition is arranged. This course is a good platform for further studies or future work within art and design. Some of the things we hope you will achieve during this 3-year course: Good skills in various painting techniques Basic knowledge of design A critical view on art and design Ability to develop artistic maturity and find your own way of expression Skills to develop and realize your own visions and ideas
Sound engineering Do you believe in working independently in co-operation with the other students? Then this course may be a good starting point for a challenging job as a sound engineer. In the course you work both theoretically and practically. Since it is a basic course, it is up to you to specialize in the areas that interest you the most. A sound engineer's most important tools are his or her own ears and you have to learn to know how to use them. During this course you can obtain the qualifications for university studies. The course also provides sufficient working skills. You learn, among many other things, audio recording, acoustics, mixing, microphone techniques and audio/video synchronization. You also study musical theory, mathematics and electronics. Music course Are you into Afro-American music (jazz, fusion, blues, rock etc.) and seek to improve on your musical and instrumental skills? This course gives you the opportunity to meet students and teachers and to make music in a musically creative environment. You can also participate in different productions together with the Sound engineer, Performance and Art courses. Playing in ensembles is an important part of the course. This is a chance to develop your musicianship. The course gives you a better sense of repertoire and at the same time you gain experience. Guest lectures by internationally renowned musicians are another important part of the course.
